Senior Project Engineer - Infrastructure & Services

Newcrest is looking for Senior Projects Engineer to provide project engineering / management support to the Study Manager for the Nearshore Soil Barrier (NSB) Feasibility Study (FS) with occasional site visits to support field work. Subject to full project funding approval following the FS, the project will proceed to Execution.
This will be a long-term fixed contract role located in either Melbourne or Brisbane, with travel to Lihir, Papua New Guinea on a project needs basis.

Who we’re looking for
The Senior Projects Engineer – Infrastructure & Services will support management of feasibility studies; towards the relocation of linear civil infrastructure (roads, drainage, port upgrades), services (pipelines, power transmission, fibre optic communications), and bulk material handling and storage facilities - as part of the Nearshore Soil Barrier (NSB) at Lihir mine.
Main tasks include managing engineering contractors, design and risk reviews, reporting, project controls and ensuring deliverables meet study requirements.
Additional responsibilities include internal stakeholder management of other corporate and site based functional groups and major Lihir Mine studies / project teams.
You will also possess the following:

- Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Mining Engineering essential, formal Project Management accreditation highly advantageous
- Significant study/project delivery experience with civil infrastructure and services type projects (pipe, power, roads, earthworks, drainage, marine works, material handling) ideally with a proven track record of successful project delivery in the mining and resources sector
- Strong project management / project controls abilities; risk, change management / estimating / scheduling / progress reporting
- Demonstrated ability to lead remote cross-functional teams in the delivery of project outcomes, including 3rd party consultancies and contractors – ideally for projects in developing nations
- Self-starter with strong communication skills
- Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to travel to Papua New Guinea to support field delivery, on a project needs basis
